The
MBA-CFA Dual Degree Program offered by the ICFAI University, Tripura
prepares men and women with the skills, knowledge and strategic
perspectives essential to the leadership of business anywhere in the
world.
Two
Streams
The
Dual Degree Program consists of two streams: MBA and CFA.
The
MBA stream is designed to provide both a portfolio of strong
functional skills and the ability to apply, adapt, synthesize and
integrate those skills into different management settings. The CFA
stream provides an indepth understanding of financial analysis. The
knowledge of which can be applied in banking and financial services
sector and practice areas like strategic finance, mergers and
acqusitions, risk management and consulting.
Through
the Dual Degree Program, the students may acquire two
career-oriented professional qualifications in management and
financial analysis and also save precious time. Instead of the
normal duration of 4 years (two years for MBA and two years for CFA)
the students of the Dual Degree Program may complete the same in 27
months.
Eligibility
Graduation
(any discipline) with 55% and above aggregate marks. CAs/CWAs (with
a bachelors degree) are also eligible to apply. CAs/CWAs are
eligible for waivers in
4 subjects.

those aspiring to pursue fast-track careers in the sunrise sectors,
the Dual Degree Program is the most suited. The MBA stream prepares
them for management/leadership positions. The CFA stream coupled
with appropriate choice of electives in MBA stream gives them deep
financial insights. This will be a unique skill-set combining
analysis and synthesis; operations and strategy.
Duration:
27 months.
Medium
of Instruction: English.
Students
who have pursued their degree program in non-English medium are
advised to undergo proper preparatory courses in Business English so
that they can cope with the Dual Degree Program.
Validity
of Enrolment
The
students are required to complete Stage I of the Dual Degree program
within a maximum period of three years from the date of enrolment.
Students who are unable to complete Stage I within three years, but
are still keen on continuing in the program, are required to
register de novo by paying the requisite fee.

dual Degree Program is based on study and examinations, with 306o
flexibility for students.

MBA stream aims to improve the students' capability to manage. On
completion of the program, students are expected to have acquired:

a business environment characterized by rapid change, managers must
necessarily be flexible and adaptable. The MBA stream seeks to

approach. This approach will help students develop a broad
foundation of skills and knowledge in the diverse functional areas
of business management.
The
CFA Stream
Objectives
The
CFA stream has following broad objectives:

improve the ability to develop a framework for financial
analysis and to rationally evaluate alternatives for purposes of
decision-making.

deepen insights into practical applications of financial
analysis in a dynamic investment environment.

encourage aspiring financial analysts equip themselves with the

The
focus areas of the CFA stream include financial markets; analysis
and valuation of financial instruments; asset allocation and
portfolio management; management of mutual funds, hedge funds,
pension funds and other funds.
The
Common Approach
The
Dual Degree Program follows the following distinctive but
inter-related approaches :

Knowledge aimed at improving students' understanding of certain
fundamental phenomena and relationships underlying the changing

Exit
Option
The
students of the Dual Degree Program can exercise the exit option
after successful completion of Stage I. Depending on their choice
they may exit from the Stage II of MBA stream and continue in Stage
II of CFA stream; or the otherway round. Then they pay reduced fee
as applicable to the MBA or CFA stream as per their choice.

In
addition the students of the Dual Degree Program can claim waivers
in 3 subjects of the MBA stream as indicated below:

Thus
CAs/CWAs will be in a position to complete the Dual Degree
Program on a fast-track. As per the Supreme Court decision
in May 2007, CAs can now pursue the CFA Program and use the
CFA designation after completion. |
